While the whole world is pushing hard with its efforts to contain the deadly COVID 19 virus, Texas got its own set of challenges to tackle through. A recent report released by Rice University conveys the fact that the city of Houston would be the most affected by the COVID 19 outbreak in Texas.

Well, this means that the leadership here got to make some strong and hard-hitting decisions in the coming future for the larger interests of the citizens. Now again, the same might lead to a bigger impact on city services and pensions.


Why Houston is likely to suffer the most?

Unlike other cities, Houston doesn’t make any revenues from trash collection fees. Speaking of Dallas and San Antonio, both cities collect an approx amount of $30 as a trash collection fee per month from every house owner. Well, the total sum may come around to nearly $120 million approx.

Speaking of taxes, the city is already functioning through a pre-defined capping that was approved by the voters in the year 2004. So that means the taxes can’t also be increased for this short period of time.

So that would mean lesser tax revenue for the city and ultimately a cut of services in the coming times. Also, there would be a shortage of medical disposable protective clothing texas.
